Hi! My name is Margaret Coronel-Ambulo. Originally from the Philippines, I maintain fluency in Tagalog and English. I believe in approaching life and work with both dedication and a strong sense of humor. I currently reside with my spouse of six years and our two (almost three) young children.

I hold a Master of Arts in Special Education and an Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate) from Azusa Pacific University. This specialization complements my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (CalState Teach Los Angeles) and my foundational Bachelor of Arts in Child and Adolescent Development with a Minor in Special Education, earned at San Jose State University. 

I bring eight years of elementary teaching experience, having successfully served second and third-grade students. My background also includes specialized instruction as a Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) Teacher for a Transitional Kindergarten-First Grade combination class. I am currently in my fourth year with Covina-Valley USD, with the last three years focused on supporting students in the Adult Transition Program.

Hello! My name is Candace Canchola and I am thrilled to be starting my 16th year in the Covina-Valley Unified School District and my 3rd year with the Adult Transition Program.

My teaching background spans all age groups! I spent 3 years teaching the district's K-3 behavior program and 10 years teaching Specialized Academic Instruction at South Hills High School. I earned my B.A. in Liberal Arts from CSU Northridge and completed both my Mild/Moderate credential and Master of Arts in Special Education at Azusa Pacific University.

Outside of the classroom I love spending time with my husband and our 2 children. My free time is fueled by coffee, cheering on my kids at their games, getting lost in a book or going to sporting events-Go Rams and Go Dodgers! 

I am looking forward to an amazing school year full of learning, growth and fun!

Ken has worked in Special Education for over 14 years in various roles, including an instructional aide, behavior interventionist, and home ABA therapist. He has been the lead teacher in special day classes for students with moderate-severe disabilities over the past 10 years. Ken is also a Special Olympics head coach for the East San Gabriel Valley track and field and bowling teams.

My name is Carol Rewers and I am a Special Education Teacher in Room 19. I love the Adult Transition Program and this is my 11th year here. I have been a special education teacher in C-VUSD for 32 years in all age groups and schools. I have a bachelor's degree from Westmont College and my Multiple Subject Credential from Cal State University Los Angeles. I received my Multiple Subject Special Education Credential, RSP Certificate, and Master's degree in Special Education from Azusa Pacific University. 

I have served on different leadership teams and groups within the district and helped write the $20,000 grant for the Sensory Room here on campus. 

When I am not teaching or thinking up curriculum to make for my class, you can find me making flowers for my floral business, gardening, reading, cooking, baking, or hanging out with my family.

I feel so lucky to work here at ATP and am looking forward to another great year in Room 19!

Derek Truong is a Special Education Teacher at the Fairvalley Adult Transition Program, where he works with medically fragile young adults. Derek and his staff are dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive classroom environment while helping students build functional life skills, independence, communication, and meaningful participation in their daily lives. Outside of work, Derek enjoys traveling, spending time with his dog, Kalua, and visiting Disney theme parks.
